The making of the car was a family event. Ben did the body work on the car. . . with his drill and pocket knife! I'll admit I was a little nervous that we were going to end up with all fingers still intact, but Ben did a good job. Erik was the artist and painted the logging truck all by himself! (Well, other than the "E".) My job was to disguise the weights (ie three rolls of quarters) as logs. And for all you hard-core Pinewood Derby-ers out there--this was a no rules race. Anything goes as long as it doesn't involve fire/combustion. :-) Hence the quarters. . . .

Here are a few pictures from the races.
Between races, Erik was happy to help himself to a few cookies. . . .
And the championship race. . . . Yeah!! Erik's car won first place!! Congrats to Ben and Erik. :-)

i'm really surprised people in LA can build a pinewood derby car. Was this a fair competition since Ben is truly not a native californian?
Yeah, it was really fun!!
3 rolls of quarters? Wow, impressive. No combustion? How about a windup propeller? That would've been cool.
Okay I'm ready for a new post. One with Halloween costumes?
Hey!! I got your blog from your parents family letter to my parents. I have one too, but I'll need to send you an invite. I think I have your email. . .
It will be fun to keep track of each other this way!!

Jimmy thinks the "E" stands for Ermak...I think it's Erik. We would like this solved:)
